Nevarians are mentioned in faerie tales as forest spirits that wonder around at night. They are said to possess magical powers that can make a man leave his wife and fall madly in love with the creature, forever making him its slave, or command the trees to kill travelers as they pass. They are also suppose to be capable of inhuman feats of agility and skill.

Nevarians always have a different appearance in each story. Some say they are the trees themselves, other say they are child like humans or demonic looking beasts. Although each story always mentions the Nevarians with a similar trait. In all the tales told every Nevarian has had pointed ears.
