The Bloody Cow gets its name from slaughtering a cow every week in the common area. First thing in the morning the tavern owner , Gorlib, slaughters a cow to bless his tavern with good fortune that week. Next he cooks it up and serves it to his first customers for free. The blood stains the wood floors of the place and cow bones decorate the walls.
