This spell toughes an article of the caster's clothing to cause it to act as armor with a +4 armor save bonus to armor saves. This spell only affect non-magical clothing, typically wizard's robes. It cannot add to the armor value of other armor, and if used on other type of clothes, such as a shirt or breeches, it may only provide a lesser benefit because the clothing does not cover as much of the casters body. The spell ends immediately if the clothing article is remove from the casters body, or sustains significant damage. The article of clothing will feel rougher and touher, though it becomes no heavier or more cumbersome.

Unlike mundane armor, mage armor entails no armor check penalty, arcane spell failure chance, or speed reduction.
