Aderon • Law Code section 1 (Public Access: RO Owner:aderon)
1.1 Evil in Men - Evil in the godly races, Humans, Dwarves, Halflings, Gnomes and Elves, is a disease of the soul that must be cleansed. Those men who commit crimes against their fellow man or break Divine Law must be punished accordingly and justly. However, unless otherwise unrepentable a man must always be given the chance to return to the light and cleanse their soul of evil. There is always hope for a man of the godly races to rid himself of the evil that has taken hold of him.
1.2 Evil deeds of men - If a man commits one of the unspeakable crimes he will be given one chance to repent. If repentent he will be allowed to carry out the punishment served to him and once done go on living his life. If he is not repentent or he is lying the Paladin will forcefully carry out a sentence of Justice if capable, if not he will bring the Lost to a Judge of higher ranking. If the Evil commited by a man is not of the unspeakable crimes, death will never be given as a sentence except in the most extraodinary circumstances. A man who continues to break the law will continued to be punished accordingly but not to be sentenced to death except in the most extraordinary circumstances.
1.3 Unspeakable Crimes - These crimes that follow break the laws of the Heavens and will be punished severly and swiftly. Crimes such as these are a sin so vile that all those who witness such crimes must be checked for corruption and judged accordingly. These crimes include, the desecration of a corpse or holy ground by creating the undead of a mindless nature, the creation of undead with intelligence of any kind, the binding or summoning or contracting with the forces of hell or the abyss or any other evil creature of a plane not material, harming or killing a creature of holy divine nature, scarafice of a member of the godly races to the dark powers or gods, speaking in the tounge of vile speech in the presence of mortals of the godly races or creatures of holy divine nature.
1.4 Evil through the hand of Good - Crimes commited while attempting to enforce the Divine Law or a good deed will be judge like any other crime. A member of the Order must not show bias or mercy even to those of the Order, godly races or holy divine nature. It is within the rights of a Higher ranking member to strip a Lower ranking member of his shield if such cirmes are commited. If a crimes such as this is witnessed by a Lower ranking member he is bound to bring the Higher ranking member before a judge capable of adjudication.
