Questions for DM

How do you spell dweomer ? -- Malvorn Dwemors and research  WTH is a Dwemor? Dweomer(Dwee-mer with a dwarven accent) refers to magical auras and is actually the Dwarven word for magic. Dwemor(Dweh-mor) is a Spell that is modified or created that is not recognized by the circle of wizards. Access control Modified.  (FTFY)

Can you see this: Momonon.svg -- Malvorn I can but I am the GM, a player may want to answer that. Its better than yours! Pft vectos ,anyways mine is suppose to be a historical drawing.

Rules:

aid another:

Can a player 'aid another' defensively, granting to bonus to parry checks? No.

Can one 'aid another' to feint, disarm, or bullrush?  if so, how (i.e. does it require a delayed or held action?) Coordinated actions in certain circumstances may make some of these possible. Ex. One player delaying and planning on aiding on a bull rush of a player, same with feint. Disarm would prob. not work.

Can one power attack and intentionally attempt to sunder? A sunder action can be made by anyone. Power attack does not conflict with this action.

Can one called shot and sunder? You can make called shots on items, if the item is particularly fragile it may break, otherwise a sunder action is more appropriate.

Can one called shot with a parry? disarm? sunder? feint? No. No. No. Yes, since feint simply modifies an attack action but since Called shot also modifies an attack action it would count as a Full round action.

Can one feint to avoid AoO in order to disarm, sunder, or bullrush? Feint was designed to avoid being countered, generally when you are doing something that provokes an AoO you can not then at that moment feint. If you wish to provoke and AoO as a feint that is the same as wasting an enemies counter, as losing a counter also loses you 1 AoO. You may perform any single attack action with the feint.

Can a player 'rush' actions - like taking a severe penalty to hit in order to attack more often? No, there is no rule for a 'rush' or 'flurry' action as the game provides feats to increase your number of attacks at a penalty. Also you may decide to duel wield without proficency which will give you more attacks at a severe penalty.

Campaign settings:

what are the names of the other planes we know of?  Most do not know of other planes, however those with the knowledge skill may know the very basic ones and only in generalities. Ex. Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Celestia, Abyss, Hell, Astral, Ethreal, Shadow etc...

what are their aspects - alignment, general feel/nature, etc?  See planar handbook. On second thought don't, when it becomes relevant in the game you will need a knowledge check anyways.

where do the worshippers of each deity go when they die?  Depends on the diety.

what are the god's relations to each other? No way to know.

are there any gods tied to magic? Not that you know of. Though they are obviously magical in nature.

are there any gods of nature? Closest well known god is Azgrad , God of Storms.

are there any gods of earth? Earth as in the planent, not that you know of. Earth as in dirt, not that you know of.

what are the legends of the druids?  I have heard they know how to shapeshift... Druids do not have a lot of legends about them. For the most part they stay away hidden from the views of society and people know very little about them.

Andross Academy:  Andras Academy is the only recognized mage school in Andaria. Andras is named after Andarian people and was the first capital when the Andarians took over. The school has agents that search the kingdom for magically talented people, they are then taken to the academy, with or without parental permission. Parents are expected to pay a % of their holdings for the honor. Mages trained at the academy are first taught of the consequences of missusing magic in the kingdom and of the perils of the world in general. Those who become Licensed Mages fall in the roll of journeyman and may choose to leave the school as long as they obey the rules. Licensed casters may also find work in a number of offices throught the kingdom such as apothecaries, researchers, historians and the very coveted battle wizard. Battle wizards are considered to be super stars in the Wizarding community though they go through a process that attempts to erase all remains of their identity in order to protect them. Also many wizards simply choose to stay on and continue to train under teachers in order to one day become a Journeyman Orator in order to achieve the goal of  one day becoming part of the Circle of Wizards, those who run the school.

Who were our professors there?  There are a large number of professors in the Academy and you feel as if you may have gone through most of them. You and Joliet's favorite professor was (Prof. Xebir) Orator of the properties of matter and effects of magical manipulation. He is a very lively teacher, around 50 or so, and took a great intrest in the pair of you for your intense need to devour knowledge.

How did learning work? Learning is done like many normal classrooms though the subjects may be odd. Classes involved properties, symbol identification, mental strength and conditioning, history, etc... However learning spells requires a special type of teacher, A Translater. Translaters are trained to make soft cast spell books for their students. These are much like imbued scrolls in that once the spell is learned and cast succsefully it is erased from the book. Unlike scrolls the material components must be supplied each time and once the student masters the spell it will be required for them to translate the function into a diagram and writing they can understand in their spellbook, often with the help of the Translater. All Licensed wizards are capable of translating their experiences into the spellbook without the teacher, though they are not always successful.

Who was Joliet's favorite professor? Vorist Xebir

Are there any planes specifically tied to Illusions?  Enchantment? Not that you are aware of.

What spell was Joliet experimenting with when she disappeared?  You and her were both engaging in an experiement in order to get her the attention of the Circle mages to help advance her path along the journey to becoming a Spell Researcher. The spell you were experimenting with was a spell beyond either of you but commonly used and controlled within the academy, translocate object (LvL 4). You both figured if you were just manipulating an already cast spell and trying to improve upon its function in order to allow it to move larger loads or extend the range there would be little chance of something going wrong. During the experiments you stepped out to grab some materials for the next part and as you returned she had a wide grin on her face as she was manipulating the magical energy of the spell, she started to say that she figured it out, or something along those lines when something went horribly wrong and in a flash she was gone. Elusha

Spells:

Can I attempt to increase the duration of spells like 'shield?' Spell manipulation is possible but it may change the component parts/spell level. In order to manipulate a spell you need a lab and access to materials, not to mention the cost of the manipulation raw. See Dwemors and research

How does magic missile work - does it work mathematically, hitting where the least likely chance of missing will occur?  Is it life seeking - or can it target objects? Magic Missle is a force of very pure magical energy that connects with what is to believed the magical thread within most creatures. It is no more than directing your magical energy through a pathway that when directed correctly it must travel. It is designed so that the level of energy used is lethal.

Can I try to make magic missile cause an effect instead of damage?  Can I make it cause, for example, hit to the stomach or balls: nausea? strike to the eyes: blindness? strike to the ears: deafness?  can I try to make the spell cause subdual damage? It may be possible to make spells that do these things but Magic Missile would be hard pressed to function in these ways.

Can I invert the property of  'locate object' to find the place to which an item belongs?  The spell right now finds the whole part to which a part belongs; I would like to be able to find, say, the area where the object was created, or where it spent most of its life, by applying the principle' of the spell to the 'life' of a book. You know of a relatively high level spell called Imprint (LvL 7) which allows a person to see the entire history of a given object/person in a short amount of time and in some cases even the object/person's future.

Can I use a scroll of suggestion to begin learning the spell itself? A soft cast scroll does not come with the proper instructions to fully learn the spell but it would be very helpful in the research of the spell. See Dwemors and research

Can I cast spells like 'locate object' and 'detect secret doors' using avranon's sight? No.

Chuckles:

Do saying different parts of his name activate different abilities? Something to play with in game.

Does the sword have different effects on other items?  Does sundering items grant the sword bonuses? Would have to try it and find out.

does the sword getting angry give the sword additional powers? Another good question.

what kind of magic does the sword exude?  Magic is magic for the most part, identified by the effect that it causes. So a fireball may be classified as an Invocation/Evocation because of the effects, in this campaign magic does not have particular auras per category as the categories are more of an academic thing.
